Getting started
1. Open CE-AI
Run the CE-AI program from the calculator's program menu (through arTIfiCE on newer OS versions) and enter your access code. It starts as 12345. Change it right away under Settings → CHANGE CODE.
2. Connect to WiFi
Settings → WIFI SETUP shows your current network. Press ENTER to scan, choose a network with its number key, type the password (ALPHA switches between ABC, abc and 123) and press ENTER.
3. Pair with the website
Open Settings → PAIRING CODE and type that code into the toolbar on calcworks.tech/transfer (dashes are optional). You only do this once per browser.
Sending files to your calculator
- Go to calcworks.tech/transfer and make sure the toolbar shows Connected to your code.
- Drag in a .8xp, .8xv or .8xg file, or press Send File. It shows as Waiting.
- On the calculator, open RECEIVE FILE. Within about 5 seconds it lists what's in the file. Press ENTER to save it.
On the same WiFi network you can also use the module's own page. RECEIVE FILE shows its address.
Using the AI
- UP and DOWN scroll an answer one line at a time. The top line shows which lines you're seeing.
- ENTER asks a follow-up. CLEAR ends the conversation.
- Pressing CLEAR while waiting cancels the question, and it won't affect your next one.
- Your last eight questions and answers are saved in INBOX.
Troubleshooting
RECEIVE FILE says "Transfer site offline"
The calculator has WiFi but couldn't reach calcworks.tech. Check that your network has internet access (try PING from the main menu), and that it isn't a network that needs a sign-in page, like a hotel or school portal.
A file stays "Waiting" on the website
The calculator only checks for files while RECEIVE FILE is open, so open it. If the file still doesn't appear, the website and the calculator may be using different codes. Compare the shortened code in the website's toolbar with the first and last four characters under Settings → PAIRING CODE.
"Not enough memory" while receiving
Free some space in the calculator's memory (2nd + MEM), then open RECEIVE FILE again. The file stays queued until it's saved. For groups, the results screen lists exactly which variables were saved.
The calculator won't join my WiFi
CE-AI needs a 2.4 GHz network. Networks set to "WPA2/WPA3 mixed" mode may not connect. Choose WPA2 if your router allows it. Check the password's capital letters: ALPHA switches between ABC, abc and 123.
A library variable was "skipped"
For safety, CE-AI never overwrites the CE C libraries (LibLoad, GRAPHX, FILEIOC, KEYPADC, FONTLIBC, USBDRVCE, SRLDRVCE and others) over WiFi, because the CE-AI program itself runs on them. Install library updates with a USB cable and TI Connect CE or TILP.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use CE-AI in an exam?
No. SAT, ACT, AP and IB exams, and most classroom tests, don't allow calculators that can connect to the internet or use AI. Using CE-AI where it isn't allowed can get your score cancelled. Use a calculator without CE-AI in exams. See our academic integrity policy.
Does the calculator still work normally?
Yes. CE-AI is a program you open when you want it. Graphing, math, apps and your other programs work as before.
Does it work without WiFi?
The calculator does, and so does your saved Inbox. Asking new questions and receiving files need WiFi with internet access.
Which AI does it use, and who sees my questions?
Google Gemini. Your questions go straight from the calculator to Google, not through CalcWorks, and Google's terms and privacy policy apply. Don't type personal or sensitive information. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
Why is CE-AI for adults only?
The AI assistant uses Google's Gemini API, and Google's terms require users to be at least 18 and don't allow it in products aimed at younger users.
Can anyone send files to my calculator?
Only someone who has your pairing code: a random 26-character code, unique to your calculator. Keep it private. Even then, nothing is saved until you press ENTER on the calculator.
