Terms of Sale & Limited Warranty

What applies when you buy a CE-AI calculator: ordering, shipping, returns, our warranty and important safety information.

Effective date: October 12, 2026

CE-AI calculators aren't on sale yet. These terms will apply to orders once sales open. Joining the waitlist doesn't create an order or any obligation to buy.

1. The product

A CE-AI calculator is a genuine TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator that CalcWorks has modified. We install a WiFi module and power module inside the case, and load the CE-AI software. Texas Instruments did not make, approve or endorse the modification. Opening and modifying the calculator voids Texas Instruments' warranty. In its place, CalcWorks provides the limited warranty below. The AI assistant depends on Google's Gemini service and the file transfer feature depends on calcworks.tech. Both need a WiFi connection with internet access, and third-party services can change or become unavailable.

2. Who can buy

You must be at least 18 years old and live in the United States to buy a CE-AI calculator. The AI assistant uses Google's Gemini API, whose terms require users to be 18 or older. By ordering, you confirm you're 18 or older and agree not to give the calculator to anyone under 18 to use its AI features.

3. Orders, prices and payment

Prices are shown in US dollars at checkout, along with applicable sales tax and shipping. An order is accepted when we email a confirmation. We may cancel an order, with a full refund, if an item is unavailable, a price was clearly wrong, or we suspect fraud. Payments are processed by our third-party payment processor, and we don't store full card numbers.

4. Shipping

We ship within the United States. We'll ship your order within [shipping time] of accepting it, unless the order page says otherwise. If we can't ship within that time, we'll tell you before the deadline and offer you the choice to wait or cancel for a full, prompt refund, as required by the FTC's Mail Order Rule. You'll get tracking information when the order ships. Risk of loss passes to you when the package is delivered. If a package arrives damaged or goes missing, contact us within 14 days of delivery or the expected delivery date and we'll make it right.

5. Returns and refunds

  • Return window: you can return a CE-AI calculator within [return window] of delivery for a refund, for any reason.
  • Condition: it should be in the condition you received it, with its accessories. We can't accept returns of calculators that have been opened or further modified, or that are damaged by misuse. Defects are covered by the warranty.
  • How to return: send us a message through our contact form (topic "Orders, returns or warranty") with your order number before shipping anything, and we'll send instructions.
  • Refunds: issued to your original payment method within 10 business days after we receive the return. If the product was defective or we made a mistake, we pay return shipping.

6. CE-AI Limited Warranty

Who gives it and who it covers: CalcWorks, [Mailing address], gives this limited warranty to the original purchaser of a new CE-AI calculator bought from CalcWorks.

What it covers: defects in materials and workmanship in the parts CalcWorks installed (the WiFi module, the power module, and the wiring and connections we added), and in our installation work, under normal use.

How long it lasts: [warranty period] from the date of delivery.

What we'll do: at our choice, we'll repair the calculator, replace it with an equivalent working CE-AI calculator, or refund the purchase price. We pay for shipping both ways for valid warranty claims.

What it doesn't cover:

  • damage from accidents, drops, liquid, heat, misuse, or opening or modifying the calculator after delivery;
  • normal battery wear, or reduced battery life caused by using the WiFi module;
  • cosmetic wear;
  • problems caused by software you install, other firmware, or calculator OS updates;
  • outages or changes in third-party services, including Google's AI service and your internet connection;
  • accuracy of AI answers;
  • failures of the original calculator that aren't caused by our modification. Texas Instruments' warranty doesn't apply to modified calculators.

How to get service: send us a message through our contact form (topic "Orders, returns or warranty") with your order number and a description of the problem. We'll reply with next steps, and may first try troubleshooting with you.

Implied warranties: any implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, are limited to the length of this written warranty. We're not responsible for incidental or consequential damages. Some states don't allow limits on how long an implied warranty lasts, or the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so these limitations may not apply to you.

Your rights: this warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights, which vary from state to state.

7. Product safety

  • The calculator has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and added electronics. Don't open the case. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.
  • Stop using the calculator and contact us if it gets unusually hot, swells, smells of burning, or is damaged. Don't charge a damaged calculator.
  • Keep it away from liquids, high heat (such as a car in the sun) and fire. Charge only with a standard USB charger.
  • Dispose of the calculator and battery through an electronics or battery recycling program. Don't put them in household trash.
  • Not a toy. Keep small parts and the battery away from young children.

8. Regulatory information

CE-AI calculators contain a 2.4 GHz WiFi radio module. Contains FCC ID: [FCC ID of the WiFi module].

This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.

Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.

9. Exams and acceptable use

CE-AI calculators are not approved for standardized tests (including the SAT, ACT, AP and IB exams) or for any exam that doesn't allow internet-connected devices or AI. You're responsible for following your school's and testing organization's rules. Use of the calculator's online features is subject to our Terms of Use and Acceptable Use Policy.

10. Other terms

Except for the limited warranty above, products are sold "as is" to the extent permitted by law. The limitation of liability, governing law and dispute terms in our Terms of Use also apply to purchases, and nothing in these terms limits rights you have under your state's consumer protection laws. Questions: use our contact form, or write to CalcWorks, [Mailing address].
