Terms of Use
The rules for using calcworks.tech and the file transfer service. Buying a CE-AI calculator is covered by our Terms of Sale.
Effective date: October 12, 2026
1. Agreement
These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and CalcWorks ("we", "us"). They cover your use of calcworks.tech, the file transfer service at calcworks.tech/transfer and its API (together, the "Services"). By using the Services you agree to these terms and to our Acceptable Use Policy. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle information. If you don't agree, please don't use the Services.
2. Who can use the Services
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Services. If you're under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission. CE-AI calculators and their AI features are for adults 18 and older. If you use the Services for an organization, you confirm you're allowed to accept these terms on its behalf.
3. The Transfer service
- What it does: it holds .8xp, .8xv and .8xg files that you upload for a pairing code until a calculator with that code downloads them.
- Your pairing code is your key. Anyone with the code can see the names of waiting files, download or cancel them, and send files for that calculator. Keep it private. You're responsible for activity that uses your code.
- Limits: up to 64 KB per file, 20 waiting files per pairing code, and programs or appvars only. Files are deleted once received, when cancelled, or after 24 hours. We may change these limits.
- No guarantee of availability or storage: the Transfer service is not a backup. Keep your own copies of your files. We may change, suspend or end the Services, or any part of them, at any time.
4. Your files and content
You keep all rights to files and messages you send us. You give CalcWorks a limited license to store, copy and transmit them only as needed to provide the Services (for example, to deliver a file to your calculator), and only for as long as that takes.
You confirm that you have the right to upload and use everything you send, and that it doesn't break the law or anyone else's rights. You may not upload malware designed to damage calculators or devices, or content you don't have the right to share. We may remove files that break these terms.
5. Acceptable use
Our Acceptable Use Policy is part of these terms. Among other things, you may not try to access files that aren't yours, for example by guessing pairing codes. You also may not overload, probe or work around the Services' security or limits, scrape them, or use them to cheat on exams. If you find a security problem, please report it privately through our contact form (topic "Security report"). We won't pursue good-faith researchers who report problems to us and don't access other people's data.
6. Copyright complaints (DMCA)
If you believe a file on the Transfer service infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent, [DMCA designated agent], or send it through our contact form with the topic "Copyright (DMCA) notice". Include:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- the copyrighted work you believe is infringed;
- enough information for us to find the material;
- your contact information;
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law;
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you're the owner or authorized to act for the owner.
If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice that meets the requirements of 17 U.S.C. § 512(g). We terminate the access of repeat infringers where appropriate. Because files are deleted within 24 hours, material named in a notice may already be gone.
7. Third-party services and trademarks
The Services and CE-AI calculators rely on third parties, including Netlify for hosting and Google for the AI assistant. Their own terms apply to their services. TI-84 Plus CE and TI Connect are trademarks of Texas Instruments Incorporated, and Gemini is a trademark of Google LLC. We mention them only to describe compatibility. CalcWorks isn't affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Texas Instruments or Google.
8. AI answers
Answers from the AI assistant come from an AI model, not from CalcWorks. They can be incomplete, outdated or wrong. Don't rely on them for anything important without checking, and never in place of professional advice.
9. Disclaimer
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CALCWORKS DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DON'T PROMISE THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT FILES WILL BE DELIVERED. This section doesn't affect the limited warranty that comes with a purchased CE-AI calculator, described in the Terms of Sale.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CALCWORKS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST DATA, PROFITS OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ABOUT THE SERVICES IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF $50 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICES IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. Some states don't allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you.
11. Indemnity
If you break these terms or the law while using the Services, and that leads to a claim against CalcWorks, you agree to cover CalcWorks' reasonable losses and costs from that claim, to the extent permitted by law.
12. Ending your use
You can stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or to protect the Services or other users. Sections 4, 6 and 8 through 14 continue after that.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of [State] and applicable US federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Please contact us first; most problems can be solved that way. If not, disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in [State], and you and CalcWorks consent to their jurisdiction. Either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court instead. Nothing here limits rights you have under your state's consumer protection laws.
14. Other terms
We may update these terms. We'll change the effective date above, and for significant changes we'll give notice on the site. If you keep using the Services after an update, you accept the new terms. If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a term isn't a waiver of it. These terms, together with the policies they link to, are the whole agreement between you and CalcWorks about the Services.
